PS Vita

Here we have all the games in the PS Vita Section.
PS Vita
One on One Beat Em Up
Colourful eye candy masking a brute of a fighting engine as Arc System get hands on to show off another addition to their fine fighting works. Another superb scrapper on their CV of many: the developer has really honed their fight engine to be awarded master status. The saccharine sweetness continues on in the anime presentation. Top of the class.
PS Vita
RPG
Reminiscent of Princess Crown with its beautiful pastel shading and use of contrast between light and dark, besides the heroine princess main protagonist. Feels like a brooding fairy tale coming to life.
PS Vita
Shoot Em Up
Classic shooter Darius gets a Vita update to get those trigger fingers twitching more than a freshly dispatched robotic cat fish boss. The darkness of deep space contrasts beautifully against the ships pyrotechnics as blast after blast illuminates the screen well suited to horizontal shooters. And of course the multi route selection remains adding plenty of replay value to those who can stick at it like a limpet.

One on One Beat Em Up
Here is the formula for Shinovi Versus: play as a pretty lady with some serious weaponry, such as pigtails with rotating blades. Clear a small section of the stage by taking on hordes of adversaries, often fellow ladies. Progress through the level to meet the boss. Power up and reveal (via an anime sequence) a skimpier outfit and seemingly boosting your stats other than your vital stats. Give boss a good beating and cause her to lose items of clothing (again via anime sequences.) Defeat boss, end level. Stylishly done with a real aplomb and an appreciation of the mass market as much as the doujin title. Hats off (and not just to protect the boss’ modesty.) Its more chefs hats in Dekamori as players button press to the onscreen rhythm helping the girls whisk up a culinary storm whilst bizarrely losing their clothes at the same time. Some even being squirted with chocolate sauce. An unusual combination of ladies and the Japanese love haute cuisine.

One on One Beat Em Up
A collaboration between the publishing arm of Media Works, who made the likes of Catherine and the fine reads in the Dengeki Dreamcast and Saturn magazines, and Sega to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Dengeki. As such speed lines and sleek characters in bike jump suits meet the fine mechanics of a Sega fight title. Doujin designs but a fight engine honed by Segas arcade experience as Akiba meets the master carpenter. Certainly put a flutter in Genki’s calloused fingers and a neon flash in the eye.
PS Vita
Rhythm
The Hatsune Miku series continues to whirl round the gaming community like a cyclone effecting fashion amongst its many followers. This Vita update version allows players to super impose the games delightful characters into real photos for some fun effects. But is the rhythm action that has never looked so finely honed.
PS Vita
Simulation
Drops players into the zany world of Osomatsu kun with the array of madcap characters from the series causing chaos. Makes great use of the license with the stars full of colour and backed up by fine voice acting.

PS Vita
RPG
Gorgeous cut scenes as Medieval Europe meets Akiba maid cafe culture, spilling over into the game itself with inappropriate hem lines. But few eyes will be able to wander far as the fluid combat demands full attention with gigantic bosses tossed around the screen effortlessly.
PS Vita
Platform
Great to see the series get back to its roots in this tribute to the highly collectable Super Famicom version. The visuals are spot on – the Vita hardware has added much to the visual impact. But Genki are grateful the gameplay has been left as it always was. Unlike most platformers super hero style jumps aren’t possible here – instead a trusty fishing rod is used to latch onto platforms and guide our schoolgirl heroine around. It is also used to catch fish adversaries in an imaginative twist that can then be stashed in her backpack if so desired. Fresh gameplay even today that you soon get into the swing of.

PS Vita
Action
The title translates as Ink Devil and the style is like Okami meets Sega Saturn Taromaru meets Kazekiri from the PC Engine. Thats if those latter two games had been drawn using a calligraphy brush. Beautiful screens as players call on traditional mythology to help them progress. The fear of being chased by the giant in stage three as just his shadow looms large in the background with Kyotos Daiji in the background is a fabulous experience up their with the thrill of collecting all the Satellite components in Goldeneye against the clock. Truly gorgeous.
PS Vita
Simulation
Sets the high standards of the series with astounding graphics to this visual novel. Mystery goings on a plenty.
PS Vita
Simulation
A visual novel with a stunning visual look such is the Vita’s crisp, colourful palette. Sequel to Xblaze Code Embryo.
