A series with a rich history and expectant and demanding fan base. Subtitled Sengoku Ace Episode III. Initially came arcade cracker Sengoku Ace, a vertically scrolling shooter, followed by the classy horizontal Saturn shooter Sengoku Blade set in Edo period Japan. Sengoku Cannon keeps up the horizontal scrolling format making superb use of the PSP's wide and crisp screen. Some real characters to choose from too, four in all including the gorgeous Shinto priestess and two further unlockable. The backgrounds are also luscious and as detailed as the sprites especially the Japanese temples. The music is appropriate too with some lovely koto notes to shred your nerves further still. The cannon shot of the title turns all enemies dispatched by it into gold coins adding an extra element for the high score chasing purists.
