PS2
Rhythm
Trial version in which players transform into the uber funky Giatroo Man by picking up an electric guitar and strum some riffs to dispatch of your adversaries in a unique twist on the rhythm action genre. Get in the groove and react in sync and the music plays along more smoothly. As exquisitely colourful as a trip to Shibuya and full of Eastern insanity making this a must have purchase.
Nintendo DS
Action
Naruto’s ninja skills are well tested in over sixty varied missions involving taking enemies down, collecting items, even acting as bodyguard. Utilises the stylus and microphone well to initialise special attacks during the heat of battles. Also allows for selectable extra moves to be added to your characters repertoire pre mission adding a tactical element. Plenty of unlockable characters hidden in there too.
Playstation
A Bit Special
Subtitled ‘The Start of History’, one might expect more familiar titles than Son Son, Higemaru, Exed Exes and Vulgus. Exed Exes is probably the pick of the four, but with Son Son containing NHK Monkey’s exploits it will always be the apple of Genki’s eye.
Sega Saturn
A Bit Special
Little known ‘life adventure’ game in a futuristic science style setting.
Playstation

Thirty four courses of pure golf swinging pleasure complete with birds singing.
Wii
A Bit Special
A little bit of a different experience with the games main protagonist and hero Minon being able to alter the domino action world. Fingers crossed this can be as enjoyable as No One Can Stop Mr. Domino on the PSX. Eight stages to enjoy with a battle mode and two player play possible.
Mega CD
Action
A pack in title for the launch of the Mega CD which was only released in CD format in Japan. The action involves wrestling fellow mech for supremacy in a myopic future.
Mega CD
Simulation
Introducing items to the mix along with the all defining strategic importance of a strong naval fleet to prevent enemy supplies from getting through. Unify China for the glory of heaven and earth. Known in the West as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Mega CD
Simulation
Dreaded FMV title that is actually quite a laugh if you can savour the flavour of the hammy, cheesy acting. Gameplay involves setting trap to capture crooks within the apartment building. So often its important to be in the right place at the right time. A classic early example of a console CD game.
Wii
Action
A race through the skies over jungles, blue sea and volcanoes with the faves of the Nintendo world in this bright and bold racing title. Items are available to power up and hinder opponents and it wouldnft be a Kong game without a few lovely bananas to give a turbo boost. Four player match ups look a real Mario Kart style treat.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Join Tom, Jim, Amy and best buddy Huck for an all American adventure, at least as seen from the eyes of the game’s developers Square. Illustrated by Katsutoshi Fujioka with some fine box art and solid cartoony sprites in game.
Playstation
Platform
SNK truly mastered the ability to produce fun games in 2D such as Metal Slug which reminded the gaming cognoscenti there was life and gameplay without polygons. Pure refined game mechanics to bring a smile to the face of the most grizzled gaming veteran.
PSP
Action
Epic proportions to Capcom’s tasty slice of monster battling with a posse of well designed beasts and some mean armour to bring them the cold justice of steel. Graphically very polished as one might expect from a series that is building up quite a following in Japan. The attack patterns have been improved and with it being possible to miss attacking through lack of player skill; there’s plenty of variety and substance to keep players going for a good while.
Playstation
Simulation
Sequel to the popular dating simulation set in a Japanese high school where you must charm your way into the heart of Nozomi, Midori or even Saeko sensei!
PS3
Action
Based on the X Box release Ninja Gaiden Black, Tecmo seems to have taken influence from Hong Kong action movies, Onimusha, the speed of the PS2 Shinobi and the raw power of the PS3 to create an intense action title. Water and fire effects are stunning as our masked one sprints over the waters surface or slices through foes entombed in burning buildings. Combos doesnt really go far enough as opponents are more dissected in air with a samurai sword. Yet quick reflexes are a requisite with some enemies using more modern weapons than the traditional ninja. Puts back the fear into the word boss.
PSP
Simulation
Slot machine simulator based on the emotional, epic anime full of hard love known as Kyojin no Hoshi (or Star of the Giants.) The story of the anime features young Hoshi as he battles through gruelling training and beatings from his strict father to become a pitcher for the Tokyo Giants. Its unlikely father would have approved of the fruit machine gambling exploits, but a top baseball player must squander their cash on something.
PS2
RPG
Mysterious MMORPG except that it isn’t online but just created to feel like it is with masses of players and emailed updates. And the sci fi feel is very cleverly done. The Hack story is based on Hackers into the main computer and the game features plenty of conspiracy and double – crossing that have seen the series snowball into an underground gaming phenomena.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Opens up the Naruto world to explore in greater detail than the action based games on the GBA of the series. True to the anime though a bout of fisticuffs is never far away, though its tactical turn based combat with wise choices of moves a must. Scrolls need collecting and jutsus need mastering as Naruto stealths his way towards becoming a fully fledged ninja.
