Shoot Em Up
Vertically scrolling World War fighter planes feature in this smooth shooter port with little in the way of loading times. Includes a two player mode for a bit of wing side back up against the bad B52’s and squadrons that dart at the pilot’s plane in various formations. But ground based vehicles are just as lethal – best to take them out first to leave just a smouldering crater. Makes good use of the theme with nice presentation and a decent length for a Neo Geo title.

A Bit Special
A multi media disk containing, amongst other goodies, playable demo’s of King of Fighters 95, Fatal Fury 3, Samurai Spirits 2, Art of Fighting 2, Super Sidekicks 3 and Top Hunter. Also allows you to view info on other hit releases and to listen to various sound clips from SNK’s back catalogue.

One on One Beat Em Up
Darker third installment from the Garapagos team with many new characters and more damaging specials. Loved by some, others resented the increased damage level decreasing bout time. Still slicing an opponent brings a worrying degree of satisfaction.

One on One Beat Em Up
A patriotic American wrestler called Eagle, an overweight policeman called Gordon and a gymnast called Carol who tosses medicine balls at you from out of her hair – it could only be Savage Reign. Interactive backgrounds including a go kart that’ll knock you down if you lurk in the rear too long. The Genki fave has to be the Chinese Chun Li tribute stage, though we doubt Capcom enjoyed it as much.

One on One Beat Em Up
Sequel and mean fighter. Plenty of specials and a guest appearance of Neo Geo Land, Japan as one of the stages. The dark and moody Korean stage with rain lashing down and burning tree gets Genki’s vote though.

The Jet of the title refers to the extra speed in movement added to the mix to make a very tasty fight fest with a few extra specials thrown in for each character just to keep you on your toes and fleet footed. The graphics are the pinnacle of the series on the AES and the results are up there with the finer fight titles on the system – no mean feat amongst such refined company.
