Soundtrack
Charting some supreme chip tunes from Mario Bros journey from munching mushrooms on the Famicom via the Game Boy to pipe dropping in the Super Famicom with the N64 and GameCube not forgotten en route to the destination of the Wii U. Happy, cheery game music to lift the mood.

Delightful tunes from Zelda, Famicom Wars, Wrecking Crew, Devil World, Metroid and the Famicom Disk System.

Shoot Em Up
Wonderful to have the shooter torch passed on burning so brightly. Its just a shame you are not given a split second to appreciate the detailed sprites and parallax layers. And it is a shame you might wish for the absent slowdown in some levels such is the frantic pace of the on screen onslaught. Five levels of mayhem: please remember to keep an eye out for the pigs that need rescuing.

Shoot Em Up
Granted most modern shooters end up in a screen full of rainbow coloured bullets (though that said old school shooters were never short of a projectile or two.) But Cave has certainly grabbed Genki’s goat in going for a World War style of isometric background buildings as detailed polygon biplanes float into place having caught the eye with a neat bit of scaling. Plenty of on ground action as pilots fly their female characters through the on-screen onslaught. Superb stuff demonstrating Cave’s rich arcade heritage.

Simulation
Stunning tribute to the saucy Saturn title with four adventure games making up the bumper limited edition pack. This cos-play inspired dating simulator came with a yellow label warning on the Saturn. Hats off to City Connection: its great to see these memories being revived.

Figure
Yoshi is a loyal friend to have and looks pretty cute to boot in this officially licensed plush.
Animal Crossing Figures
Figure
Known as Hamusuke in Japan, this cheeky chappie in snazzy star jumper appears to have plenty of room in his cheeks to squirrel food away for a rainy day.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Stunningly beautiful in a sprite based Super Famicom way, Capcom proved it had more to it than mere fight fests in this masterpiece and have released another masterful GBA conversion. The artwork for the box is well worthy of mention too. Still the title is a little more linear than the work of its rival: the mighty Final Fantasy series, but Breath of Fire at least manages to singe its Chocobo feathers. (It’s no shame to say it doesn’t quite hold a torch light to Link. But Genki has always had a glint in its eye for the Super Famicom Zelda.)

Playstation
RPG
Very expressive avatars and plenty of musical clues as to their character: be they likely to fight you, steal from you or charge you too much in a restaurant. The combat and isometric world show just how much effort has gone into this journey of adventure.
Playstation
Action
Isometric take tried to drag the PC Engine success of Bomberman into the 32bit world, but the new improved graphics add little to gameplay in Genki’s humble opinion. A must for fans of the series though with highly amusing story mode.
Playstation
Action
Madcap, multiplayer mayhem as up to four players battle it out in varied arenas from deserts to neon cityscapes. Players chuck rocks at each other avoid the non-player adversary, be it a UFO or the rock that is actually a curled-up T Rex. Real, pure gaming fun. Known as Poy Poy in the West.
Wii
A Bit Special
Nine various games to ground you in the skills required to play the console to its full potential. Nintendo takes you by the hand through a Duck Shoot style blast, a round of ping pong, a rack of pool – mimicking the cue action, a race with a herd of cows, a spot of fishing and a game of air hockey amongst others. All good, clean fun and an excellent starter title.

DVD
Coming with Guilty Gear X Plus PS2 game in which Sammy proves its no schmuck using Dreamcast based technology to produce an arcade armada in Guilty Gear with which to plunder SNK and Capcom’s war chests. The smooth conversion to PS2 sits proudly as possibly one of the series finest 2D fight fests and this anime DVD is just as slick, albeit fairly short at 5mins.
Gamecube
A Bit Special
A must for multiplayer adding so much more enjoyable by beating those you hold dear to the mini party games. Simple to pick up and play, but the fun really draws out the competitive spirit.
GameBoy Original
