Sega Saturn
Platform
One of the first releases on the Saturn and fondly remembered by the Genki team. Nice, colourful 2D platformer forced into 2.5D by the hysteria for 3D graphics when the Saturn and Playstation were released.
Mega Drive
Simulation
A board game from Japan brought to life by the intriguing characters featured within that ensure a lively pace.
PSP
Action
Brings the incredibly vibrant anime to life which is no mean feat considering how much vitality and high-jinx it contains. Plenty of speed lines and sound effects as the loveable pirate rogues take on our beloved Luffy by hook cane or by crook brass hand. The bosses are a delight.
Playstation
One on One Beat Em Up
Battle mode where you can take on anyone or Story mode full of scene setting cinematics where you play as Yuka chan. Very tasty graphics improving over the Super Famicom prequel. Also includes special moves that can only be utilised when on your last legs, evening up one sided bouts.
🏆Brilliant!
Brilliant Switch
Shoot Em Up
Switch version and eagerly awaited shmup port of the Naomi board based Dreamcast blast that also found a home on the 360 and PS2. The crux of this shooters story is the ability to capture enemy ships and either use them as a shield or send them spinning off out of control with a deft joypad flick. The home version includes the original arcade mode, along with a story, arrange and training modes plus the chance to tweak with the controls and screen dimensions. Story mode adds speech to the levels along with various endings depending on which character the player selected. Arrange is a mish mash of the arcade and story modes that must be completed on a measly single credit.
Switch
Simulation
Brings to life the incredible strategy game and the attention to detail is truly stunning. Such hard-work is demanded by the hardcore fans and the resulting warriors and weaponry ignite the screen as brightly as the flame thrower.
Mega Drive
Side Scrolling Beat Em Up
Xiaomei captures the spirit of Kung-Fu Master and takes players through the limestone cliffs of China, dispatching all and sundry with a well placed kick or inch punch to comically fall from the scrolling levels. Great to see the Mega Drive alive and kicking in 2023.

Bunbun is a colourful character from the Super Mario universe and well worthy of a plush to add to the collection.

Genki doesn’t mind the odd Goomba: very agreeable adversaries that don’t hang around for too long and annoy. Known as a Pata Kuribo in Japan.

A fitting way for the Zelda fan to store their pass card with this Hyrule themed shield motif holder.

Put together the Japanese word for bad (warui) and tag it on to Luigi and you get this villain looking like our friendly Luigi, but with bandy legs and upside down ‘L’.

Figure
Fine tribute to the stalwart Link complete with sword and shield and very dapper Breath of the Wild tunic.
PS3
One on One Beat Em Up
Plenty of goading and eye catching backgrounds that distract from the smooth play mechanics honed by years of experience in sweeping all before it in the 2D fighting world.
Dreamcast
RPG
Stunningly pretty RPG really hits its stride and was worthy of far greater attention. Capcom really put the hard yards into this series and its clear here why it has its dedicated aficionados.
Wonderswan
Simulation
Board game version of the colourful capers of the pirate crew with players each trying to outwit the others to find it to the treasure – loved by pirates everywhere. Pretty animation and plenty of work has gone into this worthy licensed title.
Playstation
A Bit Special
Another fine escapade that captures the relentless action and humour of the anime series including plenty of slapstick and deadpan jokes. The introduction seamlessly leads the player into the crux of the game with some click anime showing Bandai’s high value placed on its series.
PS2
One on One Beat Em Up
Tough guy fight title that uses elbows, knees and no holds barred as pugilists become wrestlers when bouts crumble to the floor with a submission as good as a knock out. The legendary Brazilian Gracie features alongside Japanese wrestler Sakuraba with a lot of work having gone into making a great resemblance only for players to bash away at their chiselled features. But its not just the players features that have been carefully mapped out: each individuals moves add a lot of depth and make for a very well rounded fight fest.
PS2
One on One Beat Em Up
New meets old as stylish anime speed lines are spliced with traditional pilgrim hats, baggy, monk trousers all set to tatami mats and with atmospheric rain downpours. Some serious special moves that can blast your opponent across the entire, and sometimes lengthy, arenas. Great blend of action and specials spiced up with some sumptuous anime.
