Famicom Cart
RPG
Tidy, diminutive sprites that mean a screen fills the full map of that particular dungeon or maze. Definitely more of an action RPG with sword fights en route to grabbing key items with the chip tunes blasting out.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Old school platform action executed with a dab hand with a fine game engine masked by the cutesy sprites. Keep an eye out for guests from Rolling Thunder in the mini games that add variety to the platform hopping and bopping.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Old school first person dungeon exploration adventure with imaginative adversaries and chip tunes that crank up the tension.
Nintendo 64
Sports
Think Mario Kart but with plane-based levels as well as Nintendo entrusts Rare with its fine intellectual properties based on the Donkey Kong universe. The action itself odes not tax much cerebrally and its great fun to unleash a well-timed weapon.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Cat and mouse platform action as players traverse the platform levels with cat often right on your tail before dispatching them Itchy and Scratchy style with a rolling cannon ball or tactically placed bomb. The format was made for such titles.

Famicom Cart
RPG
RPG action screens to grab a quick item before heading to the platform sections and boss showdowns. All set to that toe-tapping DragonBall theme tune. Known in Japan as Dragonball Shenron no Nazo.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Beautifully illustrated in the style of crayons, think Yoshi’s Island for the Famicom. The character sprites are all very cute and the tunes are upbeat in keeping with the action. The dino hero’s ability to roll adds to his versatility. A Japanese flavour to the action too with walking riceballs and cartoony squids.
Merchandise
Figure
A very kawaii version of Pikachu on safari that clips on to clothing or backpacks to take on that expedition or holiday.
Famicom Cart
Board Game
Colourful take on the board game based fight fest with strategic cards the order of the day to beat an opponent in combat. Plenty of animated fight scenes to savour. Full title: Dragonball Z KyouShuu Saiyajin.
Famicom Cart
Board Game
Subtitled The Legend of Goku, our hero manoeuvres around the board getting into scrapes where the fights play out in the form of card battles. Plenty of lively avatars and tunes add that Dragonball vitality.
Famicom Cart
Board Game
Card based combat as players traverse the Dragonball lands getting into scrapes more often than not.
Super Famicom
Shoot Em Up
Highly imaginative vertically scrolling outer space blast with a nice, chunky feel to the sprites and bosses with good use of the hardware to produce fine backgrounds too. Very commendable.
PSP
RPG
Released on the tenth anniversary of the original PSO, the graphical standard and the speed at which lay revolves must be applauded. Yet the bare bones of the game are very much the Dreamcast version which caused such a stir in the gaming community when the servers were online. Co-operative play is possible along with other, less friendly multi-player opportunities.
Super Famicom
Action
An inventive twist on the Bomberman World in the form of an action puzzler. The bombs move across the screen in formation and players must detonate them at the right time and target the right bomb in order to create a chain reaction and clear the stage. Quick thinking is a must.
PS4
Platform
Unlike most platformers super hero style jumps aren’t possible – instead a trusty fishing rod is used to latch onto platforms and guide our schoolgirl heroine around. But here she must tackle other adversaries in a sort of Power Stone meets Smash Bros battle melee.
Nintendo 64
One on One Beat Em Up
Plenty of all-star combatants from the Nintendo range, taking each other on in innovative arenas with plenty of little touches, such as dust clouds on impact, that relay that Nintendo magic. Yet beneath the pretty candy coloured characters lies a pretty brutal fight engine.
Famicom Cart
Platform
The Battletoad games are very collectable and its easy to see why in this Rare crafted version. Cliched some of the locations may be, but when the execution is of such high standard its easy to see why they become much imitated and rarely bettered. Fun, wholesome action that squeezes every iota out of the hardware.
Famicom Cart
Puzzle
Clear the blocks from the screen by shooting them to extend their length and turn them into big squares. They then disappear in time for another wave descending down the screen.
