Every detail exudes a triple A title with lavish visuals blended with anime avatars, stirring orchestral score and high-end voice acting. The look is really stunning even today adding up to an epic opus.

Part of the Lady genre in Japan: a romantic adventure from a girls perspective as players negotiate a love minefield not getting too distracted in the quest to find the kidnapped sister. Divine voice acting and illustration.

The underwater, cavern and desert levels may be well known, but the execution and level design is worthy of the weighty label. The Air Zonk PC Kid tribute is a blast too.

Shooting action but with a friendly feel, a bit like it is set in the Wild West area of Disneyland. Nice to have a more frivolous shooter amongst the many that take themselves too seriously.

Not sure if you can have a platform game in the deep blue sea, but Shark Tale follows the plot of the film with snazzy, digitised cut-scenes as our colourful fish friend negotiates sharks and jelly fish.

The ultimate in gaming fantasy escape – a British major title is possible with the appearance of Tim Henman in this slick tennis sim. Reveals its arcade roots in its simplicity to pick up but with a fiendish difficultly gradient after the opening rounds. The finest realistic tennis game. Brilliant with four players.

The star of Umihara Kawase makes a guest appearance riding on an inflated puffer fish. Just what the doctor ordered.

Famed Fighter Jet Blaster Raiden IV gets a Mikado Game Centre remix with various modes and selectable ships plus a soundtrack so full of guitar riffs you’ll end up playing on a knee slide, if the projectile hell doesn’t break you first. Superb execution from a thoroughbred shooter stable that keeps on giving.

Utilises Fourthview technology allowing recordings to be made in 360 degrees so they can fit in all the members of this all girl band. MM are famed for their bold costumes as much as their girly music such as ‘Love Machine’. Plenty of material of the ever shifting band.
