Playstation

Minecraft before its time as RPG fans create their own dungeon based role playing game complete with shops and the obligatory monsters.
Playstation
Simulation
Based on the popular anime, the trio starring are in charge of protecting earth from invading aliens all in their amiable style. Known as Ground Defense Force Mao Chan in English.
PS2
RPG
Mysterious MMORPG except that it isn’t online but just created to feel like it is with masses of players and emailed updates. And the sci fi feel is very cleverly done. The Hack story is based on Hackers into the main computer and the game features plenty of conspiracy and double – crossing that have seen the series snowball into an underground gaming phenomena.
PS2
RPG
An update of Kingdom Hearts II with extra battles, maps and events re-released in Japan for the English voice actors it features along with Japanese subtitles. Comes as a two disk set with the second disk featuring a remake of the GBA title Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories with again a few unexpected extras over the original in the cut scenes and voice acting. A smashing series that shows that big budget collaborations can bare succulent sweet fruit when in the right hands.
XBOX
Action
Known as ‘Wreckless’ in its Western carnation, gameplay involves driving missions working either as a cop or spy in order to bring down the Yakuza. If spying do your best to not mess up, thereby keeping all your digits intact. Combinines the look and feel of Crazy Taxi as drivers whizz around the city with pedestrians scattering out the way with the crash and smash gameplay of Chase HQ as drivers run the bad guys off the road. A good combination and a real hoot with tanks and dumpster available to add to the variety.
PS Vita
Simulation
A visual novel with a stunning visual look such is the Vita’s crisp, colourful palette. Sequel to Xblaze Code Embryo.
PS Vita
Simulation
Sets the high standards of the series with astounding graphics to this visual novel. Mystery goings on a plenty.
Merchandise
Blue Ray
Classical versions of Persona one to five and Q with the Tokyo Chamber Orchestra creating a master score and the Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus hitting the notes perfectly. Stirring stuff: who says games are not high brow?
XBOX
RPG
Space-age style, dank, metallic dungeons reminiscent of Kileak the Blood back on the Playstation in terms of its setting. Players explore RPG style before tackling opponents in well-presented isometric way.
PS3
One on One Beat Em Up
Warming the cockles of side on scrapper starved gamers comes the sequel to the anime expose to satisfy the most demanding of fight fans. The all female cast is reminiscent of the seminal Asuka series, but unfortunately such high-res graphics were never a possibility on the humble PC Engine. Presentation is spot on with a wee nod to the doujin fan and a fine story mode with pre-bout banter between the cat like ladies. The title comes from the Arcana power which is chosen to help each character get through the bout. Great to see the ladies are still doing it in 2D. Keep them coming we requested and our pleas have been answered.
Nintendo DS
RPG
Famed anime utilises the DS stylus in fine fashion as players must pull off special moves. The platform fight action is pretty relentless and the ninja theming makes for beautiful bamboo backgrounds and some catchy chip tunes in a Japanese style. Full title Naruto Shippuden Ninja Council 4. Known in Japan as Naruto Shippuuden Saikyou Ninja Daikesshuu 5.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Utilises the Mobile System GB for transferring data between different users, players enter the animal based world RPG world for countless epic quests.
GameBoy Advance
Sports
A football simulation where gamers get to choose their player type and then try and rack the J League. Try not to hang around the ramen shop too much. Very slickly presented as Konami once again makes waves.
Playstation
Simulation
The prequel to the yellow label ‘Bakuretsu Hunter R’ is a lot tamer, but still plenty to recommend here to anime fans.
Playstation
Puzzle
Gameplay is similar to the ‘Puzzle Bobble’ series from Taito therefore not recommending itself to the colour blind gamer. Match up spheres as your character runs frantically around the bottom of the screen firing the balls up. Being in possession of a special move often helps keep on top of things. But you are always only a few misplaced balls away from failure. The usual array of cute, super deformed, fantasy characters to choose from. Two player is where Magical Drop excels. Highly compelling.
Playstation
Sports
Sleek, sensuous, slimline, smooth, stylish…. And that’s just the Japanese box design! The game that sent hundreds of developers back to the drawing board to think again.
Playstation
Sports
Includes multiplayer match play mode for some fine showdowns as even with a double bogey there’s still a chance for a comeback on the next hole with each hole being awarded, not accumulative score. Still there’s always the training mode if you find yourself in the rough a bit too much and are getting sand in your ears. And a nice club upgrade wouldn’t go a miss too. Fine character animation on missing a shot helps relieve some of the frustration with a good chuckle.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Based on the anime where modern day Tokyo and the supernatural world collide with supernatural goings on wherever Pai seems to go. A digital adventure not for the faint hearted. Stylish anime graphics.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Like a Miyazaki anime, ecological disaster stalks this dating sim with a look of Sakura Wars and a feel of Tokimeki Memorial. The games characters are skilled in magical arts, as if the science of romance wasn’t tricky enough.
PS2
Sports
Tribute must be played to this superb golf game in the fact that it brings the freshness of a round of golf to the living room with sunshine and birds tweeting in the trees. Solid game engine underlines the fine look to inspire players to knock a shot off their score. Known as Hot Shots Golf in the West.
