Playstation
Action
Isometric 3D style towns with platform sections and bosses to battle in mecha suits: yes its Goemon alright. The towns as a pleasure as ever with traditional warm-hearted friendliness to welcome you. And the 3D style boss battles add another dimension to the already varied gameplay. Overall the 3D effect has been well implemented with pretty shading and the proper balance between the trade-off of gameplay and graphical glitz.
PS2
A Bit Special
A must have for fans of J Pop’s darling Ayumi. In the Visual mix you watch very clear footage of some fine Ayumi songs whilst being able to manipulate the camera angle, add laser effects or even falling cherry blossom. Disk two allows you to hit the studio and remix tracks to hear you favourite loops over again. Also includes an Ayu chan themed browser to complete the package.
PSP
A Bit Special
A short story in Japanese that is a great language tool for those wishing to brush up on their mobile skills with plenty of street savvy language and a few nice images to kindle the love story.
PSP
Rhythm
Update of the rhythm action with catchy, bubbly tunes and the star of the show Miku who seems to have a huge wardrobe of outfits for the fanboys. Presentation is superb and the graphical and aural standard shows just how huge Miku is in Japan. And with a bit of hand eye coordination, players too can be big in Japan.
PS3
Sports
Every update seems to get closer to the game with it now seemingly easier to score from corners as in the real game and with an updated working of the offside law – shame that cant be applied to the linemen in the real game. The ultimate selling point of this title is the inclusion of the Champions League set up.
Soundtracks
Soundtrack
A bonus BlazBlue drama CD which makes great use of the voice actors and actresses to set the scene for a big battle involving the popular Tsubaki.
Famicom Disk System
Sports
Cracking Nintendo take on table tennis with only animated hands and bats representing the player making for a fast flowing game. The crown lap up the action with plenty of applause on the corresponding side to the players and a certain cheeky monkey appearing in the crowd.
Super Famicom
Simulation
Bullfrog’s seminal god sim made it hard to resist improper gameplay such as drumming up the odd disaster to keep your people.on their toes. This sequel hones the interface and adds a few nice surprises. Subtitled Trials of the Olympian Gods.
Playstation
RPG
Fantasy strategic RPG based in a kingdom of knights with impressive 3D battles and an immense potential of depth to draw players into its world. The monsters have solid AI and behave in an unpredictable manner. And with five different kingdoms to choose from the replay value is very high. Also known as Brigandine The Legend of Forsena.
Nintendo 64
Sports
Utilises out of proportion players with giant heads in a similar style to Konami’s popular Power Pro Baseball series. Also features the major teams of the Japanese pro league so players can savour match ups such as the Yakult Swallows vs. Nippon Ham. The simultaneous four player mode is as enjoyable as the slick play mechanics. Known in Japan as ‘Chou Kuukan Night Pro Yakyuu King.’
Famicom Disk System
Simulation
Nicely presented Mahjong game from the big N as those with a penchant for the Chinese tile game get to fill their boots on the underground Famicom Disk System.

PS3
Action
Based in in ancient Japan, Genji really brings the Heian period to life with graphical splendor in the rich, colourful kimonos where you can make out every thread. The cut scenes are of sublime quality as the scene is set: Genji clan must once again defeat the rival Heishi clan with a seeming supernatural influence. As you’d expect from a game of rich samurai heritage the action is hack and slash, or dice and slice more appropriately with the sharp sword used and the combos soon roll off the joypad. With progress comes the opportunity to play as new characters: the slow, but powerful Benkei, the spear armed Lord, but its the nimble priestess Shizuka with her nifty grapple hook that looks most stunning. All group members must be equally protected if you don’t want the credits to roll early – one death of any member means game over. The game also utilises the systems motion sensing controller.
PSP
Action
With a mighty cast of assailants, there’s certainly plenty to get your teeth and fists into in this off shoot of the chic, cel shaded combat extravaganza. More of a cutesy approach has been taken with the look and the action is firmly rooted in 2D scrolling fight fun making for some frantic action using the dash attack. The in game action has the feel of the anime having captured the essence excellently – a definite thumbs up.
SNK Hardware
Cable
Official SNK AV cable for those who want the assurance of the SNK brand. Red, yellow and white inputs and outputs.
GameBoy Color
RPG
Very sweet graphical style to this little known off shot of the Brave Saga series with the look of the Mother series in its prime. Plenty of scrapes along the way, but the very friendly user interface makes combat enjoyable rather than a chore.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Rescue the Tomato Princess and receive the praise of the Broccoli King to become a fine, upstanding cucumber. Possibly the strangest way to encourage salad consumption, but a wonderfully crafted adventure and in friendly Hiragana for those budding students of Japanese: be in language or culture. Known in Japan as Salad no Kuni no Tomato Hime.
