PSP
One on One Beat Em Up
Borrows the characters from Spectral Souls and Generations of Chaos to bring together some serious grudges all brought out to air with a plethora of speed lines, in game taunts and back chat. The engine seems to take its leave from Capcoms design school – certainly no shame in that – and as such comes in heavily recommended for fisticuff fans after a good hoe down. The PSP version admirably replicates the PS2 big brother with virtually no loading times.
PSP
RPG
Namco demonstrates its vast experience in hand crafting elaborate RPGs and embellishing them with beautiful looks and high-end acting. Another fine addition to the series.
PSP
RPG
Experienced stable Namco takes the reins and steers you through its wonderful world with all its vast experience. Looking lavish on the PSP display.
PSP
RPG
Captures an ancient spirit of waterfalls, sunsets and plenty of swordsmanship. A beautiful world to explore, but the katana never stays sheathed for too long. Known as the Kingdom of Paradise in the West.
PSP
Simulation
Love adventure game aimed at ladies with saccharine sweet J-Pop soundtrack to match the boy band looks of the in game protagonists. Sadly doesn’t involve multiple trips on the Yamanote Japan Railways Line.
PSP
Action
Genki had great trouble resisting this title which combines two of Japan’s great loves in food and gaming. The series runs in Shonen Jump and besides the fight action, delightful dishes of culinary, gourmet grade cooking are served up to boost the player get through a particularly tricky boss run in. Be it the huge crocodiles, King Kong gone run, Yeti or even the electric eels; an empty stomach makes for a poor fight. The scaling works well displaying a vast, vibrant play area and helping the bosses show off their might.
PSP
Sports
Konami’s elegant but deadly striker once again dons the cycling shorts to fire a flurry of well crafted volleys into the Fifa Soccer net. Looks an absolute delight on the small screen with realistically animated players that obey the laws of physics. Also has beautifully animated close ups of incidents such as players fighting, substitutions and, of course, the goal celebrations. But gameplay has always been where the series excels and this provides another footballing lesson to the opposition. Full complement of teams including Premier League, but only Chelsea and Arsenal are listed by their proper name and club badge. The rest still have all the correct players intact: accurately represented and very recognisable.
PSP
Sports
A title synonymous with the Sony brand returns to true form with its nitrous fuelled gameplay, adrenalin rush visuals and stylish club scene inspired, icon based presentation complete with a sublime soundtrack. Most importantly the ship’s handling has been tightened up giving it a less floaty feel placing the blame for clipped wings firmly on the drivers shoulders. The energy charge lane (a la F-Zero) has now been replaced with the need to use weapon power ups for in race repairs adding a tactical element to events. Pure and simply cool- bravo Sony Liverpool for such a cultured title.
PSP
Simulation
A game designed for the ladies and ported over to the PSP due to the success of the PS2 version. Plenty of soft music perhaps accompanied by the lapping sound of the waves as players date various gents who looking befitting of a boy band in Genkis eyes. High production values down to the J Pop soundtrack.
