Simulation

Here we have all the games in the Simulation Section.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Kenji Endo’s sequel to D certainly has its share of spooky moments onboard the space station with the eerie silence and smooth FMV clips cranking up the tension. A title that heralded the new 32 Bit era.
PS2
Simulation
An excellent example of a console flight sim that steers away from too detail, yet has far more substance than action flight games. The sequel has increased the size of game and reached a pinnacle of graphical excellence with more planes to savour. Import only, but the menu allows you to change the language to English. On par with the finest PC flight sims.

Dreamcast
Simulation
The disks contain a TV drama with the detective charged with piecing together the evidence to solve the mysterious murders occurring. A great language learning tool.
Dreamcast
Simulation
Espion-age-nets involves various spying missions in which you must deploy your team tactfully to complete the mission. Difficult to pigeon hole with action, fighting and puzzle elements making this a stand out title. A clever use of the monitor sees your main character appear on the main screen with three mini update screens around it so you can see how the other team members are fairing and react accordingly. All done with stylised camera angles adding to the Orwellian feel.
Dreamcast
Simulation
Gorgeously animated adventure, playing like an interactive anime with gritty cityscapes and plenty of scrapes in the neon of the big city.
Playstation
Simulation
Interweaves different time zones from the past, present and future very cleverly to make for a seamless anime adventure with tasty cut scenes as seasoned anime veterans may expect with those fine production values overflowing into the game too.
Dreamcast
Simulation
Colourful adventure title with surprising depth to the quest, all very well acted.
PC Engine Super CD ROM
Simulation
Lots of tweaking to the cars to be able to allow the team to savour top spot on the podium in this race simulation from the cult classic team of Laser Soft, an off-shoot of Telenet.
Playstation
Simulation
Drawing deeply on Middle Eastern mythology comes a smooth war simulator which is no Tower of Babylon. Set in ancient Persia with historically sensitive setting and rekindled recently for a Playstation download.
Super Famicom
Simulation
Striking artwork up there with the finest Sega Fantasy. Tactical combat in positioning troops and some lavish cut scenes to the combat to help crank up the tension alongside the triumphant soundtrack. A fine example of the genre.
GameBoy Color
Simulation
Not sure if its our northern roots, but there should be more releases in the looking after Ferret genre as the pet gets well looked after, even with trips to the pet shop to really spoil your companion. Known as Ferret Monogatari in Japan.
Famicom Cart
Simulation
Military action as the army must capture enemy territory, but fear not: its arcade roots make this very accessible to pick up and play with hidden tactical depth for the budding field marshals.
Dreamcast
Simulation
Dating game that originally came to fame on the PC FX. This squel also includes a two disk conversion of the original First Kiss Story alongside the two disks of the update. Also known as First Kiss Monogatari. Plenty of fine ladies to take the players fancy, even for those with a penchant for pointy ears.
PS2
Simulation
Subtitled ‘Radio Contolled Adventure Championship’ involving flying your little helicopter through various missions which is great fun.
Super Famicom
Simulation
Worthy of purchase for the box artwork alone if it weren’t for the well designed mecha waiting their turn to attack each other inside. A lesson in strategy combat titles thats truly absorbing and well worthy of the Squaresoft label. Praise due to the Cybernator creator Toshio Tsuchida’s work on the mecha design.

Playstation
Simulation
One of Square’s finest moments sees the Front Mission series return to gallant form with excellent isometric battle scenes, slick intro, inspirational regimental soundtrack, a two player mode, genius proportion character designs and plenty of options to turn your mish-mash of robots into a lean, streamlined battalion. All this plus gameplay that runs very deep.
Playstation
Simulation
Fantastic attention to detail, particularly with the mechs that battle it out before your eyes in this fine continuation of the series that sells itself to non strategy fans due to its gradual learning curve. Visit towns to chat and bulk up your firepower at the local shop with some serious kit on offer.
PS2
Simulation
Fine history to this hard hitting mech series right from the Super Famicom days and the fourth installment heads out to South Africa and Germany. As you’d expect with Square the attention to detail is immense and moody, sometimes grim lighting effects add to the destructive, apocalyptic atmosphere. Great weapons with a real weighty feel to them.
PC Engine HU Card
Simulation
Battle simulator set in a myopic future where mecha dominate. A good engine and spritely graphical effects.
PC Engine HU Card
Simulation
Little known strategy title from Nihon Computer Systems.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Anime style graphics and sweet voice acting bring this off beat title to life. Welcome to the tweaked, saucy, crazy, cosmic, Sci Fi world of Yuna – Galaxy Fraulein.
Game Gear
Simulation
Good roster of rogues and more respectable folk to take on in games of Poker and on the slot machine. The UFO Catcher crane game is good fun and the memory challenge gives the brain a good work out long before the DS. Roulette, Black Jack, Billiards and more make this purchase not so much of a gamble.
PC Engine CD ROM
Simulation
A thoroughly crazed mahjong title full of mad characters with a guest appearance of that well known mahjong master ET! ‘ET reach!’
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Sunsoft has fine arcade heritage and a history of fin mahjong games and both are on show here as gamers enjoy a fine table simulation that heavily emphasises the Chinese nature of the game. Three playable versions: Shikinjoh, Rong Rong and Shanghai.
PSP
Simulation
Set in the warring period in Japan’s history, this title involves plenty of action in the battlefield with a bit of tactical nous needed every now and then to help your quest. Take on rival clans in fully pitched battles to become the ultimate Daimyo, but be warned desire can never be quenched; so choose your battles carefully so as not to stretch your resources too thinly on the ground.
PC Engine Super CD ROM
Simulation
GS Mikami has plenty of Shinto inspired high jinx as Mikami links the modern world with a spiritual universe. Plenty of cultural confusion reminiscent of a Rumiko Takahashi manga escapade. Great humour and with plenty of options.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Battle simulator with pretty decent (for the Saturn at least) polygon graphics.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
War simulator trading in the original’s polygons for rendered sprites graphics.
