GameBoy Advance

Here we have all the games in the GameBoy Advance Section.
GameBoy Advance
Action
Improves on the prequel offering more ninja related high jinx with jutsu moves available when in a tight fix. Faithfully recreates the high pitched battles of the anime series and as a result is a solid action scrapper even for those without the slightest interest in passing their Chunin exams. Impressive cut scenes for the small screen and bold boss battles set to swathes of bamboo forests.
GameBoy Advance
Sports
Prince of Tennis stars Ryouma, a young tennis whizz kid who joins a new school and must battle to overcome the challenge of his new peers and also the looming shadow his father casts over him as a one-time tennis champ. Adds a lot of fun to a very tidy tennis title.
GameBoy Advance
Simulation
Based more on the Rockman Exe Anime series than any other previous Mega Man game, progress rewards the player with new armour and chips are collected from defeated foe. Plenty of exciting material for fans of the little Mega Man.
GameBoy Advance
Platform
Mega Man proves he can survive in modern 3D gaming world with some serious weaponry, slick animation and SFC style Mode 7 effects and some grand designs of bosses. And the Japanese name remains as appropriate as ever with the old school, rock hard difficulty making for a real feel of achievement and not just joining the gaming dots.
GameBoy Advance
Platform
Mega Man suits his role on this handheld platform almost as well as his dashing suit. And it does give him special powers to zip across the screen unleashing a blast at some fine foes from the depths of Capcom’s collective conscience. Plenty of dramatic big boss showdowns, no need for fancy cinematics here. Top drawer entertainment from a fine developer.
GameBoy Advance
Platform
In Genki’s humble opinion the GBA architecture feels like a souped up version of the Super Famicom. Maybe that’s why we feel so at home with its graphical style and the ability of programmers to squeeze every iota of performance out of the hardware is none more evident than this game. A superb gaming journey full of innovative turns in both gameplay and graphical terms. Rockman is a more appropriate name than Mega Man, due to the rock hard nature of the gameplay. Yet gamers of a certain vintage will recall when progress in a game was due to putting in the hard yards on its fast platform levels and learning the attack patterns and discovering the weaknesses of the bosses.
GameBoy Advance
Action
Seemingly taking inspiration from SNK in the period setting, this action fight fest has scrumptious fight areas and extensive attention to animation detail. Plenty of hidden characters and accomplished effects. A very appropriate tribute to the samurai slicing anime series.
GameBoy Advance
Action
Not sure if you can have a platform game in the deep blue sea, but Shark Tale follows the plot of the film with snazzy, digitised cut-scenes as our colourful fish friend negotiates sharks and jelly fish.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Famicom Mini recreation of a game comparable to a Hiroshige picture and not just in the way the characters are written on scrolls. Some of the finest game music which hasn’t aged in the way true classic shouldn’t. Text fills in the story with this being from the era of the Famicom Disk System but the graphical representation is still stylish and on a par with the fine tunes. Draws on Japanese mythology to create a game worthy of being one of the classics.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
A splendid, sprawling epic cocooned in a wonderful threads of Shining Force story. Lovingly crafted sprites reminiscent of the halcyon era of the Super Famicom.
GameBoy Advance
Platform
A conversion of Super Mario Bros. 3 and classic platforming gameplay it is as players get misty eyed dispatch a turtle shell into a Koopa or two. Looking tip top and Bristol fashion on the GBA, it’s a pleasure to go back and savour some good, clean gameplay exploring pipes and the vast potential of completing collecting all coins.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Nintendo unleash their fine and healthy imagination in Ketchup World in this tomato themed action RPG really looking the colourful part. Surely a classic of the future and deserving of a wider audience.
GameBoy Advance
Sports
Wrestling simulation in a first person perspective similar to ‘Fist of the North Star’. A plethora of Mexican wrestling masks and luminous lycra leotards backed up by an interactive anime story mode with all the Chinese characters simplified by syllables written above.
GameBoy Advance
Platform
Very tidy little romp with the usual higher level of experimentation as is often found in the Wario titles, opposed to the Mario variants. Great fun with plenty of unexpected twists and a high replay value with hidden areas to explore. Nintendo didn’t risk its more infamous license with its initial GBA release in the platforming series, but the Kyoto companys cards came up trumps anyway. Known in the West as Wario Land 4.
GameBoy Advance
Shoot Em Up
Vertically scrolling shooter but requires you to keep an eye on the ground with a bomb option too. Classic Famicom shooting action.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Utilises the Mobile System GB for transferring data between different users, players enter the animal based world RPG world for countless epic quests.
GameBoy Advance
RPG
Take contol of the funky Jiisan (or middle age man) in this off beat action RPG quest to find the missing manga in which our main man can transform into fourteen different and comical Jiisan variations. Captures the madness of the manga excellently. Four player link up play possible. Subtitled ‘Ikari no Oshioki Blues.’
GameBoy Advance
Platform
Platform romp with distinct Japanese humour and cultural references aplenty, including a cheeky boss run in reminiscent of Ghouls and Ghosts. If the cliché can be forgiven, a hidden gem, or possibly more a hidden whoopee cushion.
