PSP
Action
With a mighty cast of assailants, there’s certainly plenty to get your teeth and fists into in this off shoot of the chic, cel shaded combat extravaganza. More of a cutesy approach has been taken with the look and the action is firmly rooted in 2D scrolling fight fun making for some frantic action using the dash attack. The in game action has the feel of the anime having captured the essence excellently – a definite thumbs up.
GameBoy Color
RPG
Very sweet graphical style to this little known off shot of the Brave Saga series with the look of the Mother series in its prime. Plenty of scrapes along the way, but the very friendly user interface makes combat enjoyable rather than a chore.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Rescue the Tomato Princess and receive the praise of the Broccoli King to become a fine, upstanding cucumber. Possibly the strangest way to encourage salad consumption, but a wonderfully crafted adventure and in friendly Hiragana for those budding students of Japanese: be in language or culture. Known in Japan as Salad no Kuni no Tomato Hime.
Super Famicom
Action
Luckyman is the combination of one of the unluckiest boys in the world (being crushed by a UFO landing) and Luckyman. This dream combo are charged with keeping alien invaders away. It makes more sense in the manga anyway. Well not much! This action based game is subtitled Lucky Cookie Roulette.

Super Famicom
Platform
Sound representation of the cat and mouse game to the point you’ll hear the immortal scream of Thomas. Players can cooperate as fish and footballs are bagged, the latter used as projectiles. The parallax scrolling is very impressive and the bright colours have that friendly, all American feel. The Japanese release is on the medium rare list, that’s for sure.
Super Famicom

Inspired by the weighty puppet license comes a worthy video game translation with great use of the series many vehicles such as the giant air balloon used in great effect in a shoot em up scenario. Plenty of cut scenes to remind you who the heroes are.

Quantum leap forward in the series.

It would appear the Japanese seem to love their thoroughbreds almost as much as the Irish. Ample evidence here as players are charged with raising a young foal and all that goes with it to build up for that slap-your-derriere final furlong of the seasons climax. Help your horse progress in this thoroughbred racer from the CRI stable.
Sega Saturn

Then the ambitious architect can sit back and enjoy the results like little computer people watching the good folk go about their business.
Sega Saturn

Subtitled Futari, or two people, as Ryoko takes a back seat role for Kaori to lend a hand. Fans of the series and genre will lap up the J Pop tinged department store style BGM and the illustration is exquisite.
Sega Saturn
A Bit Special
Basically a fan disk to Zico whose brand of Brazilian football enthralled many and boosted his popularity in Japan into the stratosphere. The title translates as Zicos thinking football, though Genkis Portuguese isnt quite what it used to be. Plenty of footage of the original galactico with some top tips to hit the back on the onion bag.

Sega Saturn

Famed for its footage of Ms. Chisa Yokoyama performing the Sakura Wars anthem complete with full Sakura Wars, Shinto inspired outfit with some good backing from the loyal crowd of devotees. The media disk takes the form of an imperial era newspaper which is scanned for info with certain sections revealing mini dating games and plenty for the Sakura Wars fan. The presentation is excellent too: a small example being the greeting when the Saturn is booted up which varies from a morning Ohayou! To an evening Konbanwa, along with a few special dates along the way.
Game Gear
Simulation
Introduced by the little Known Gear Kun, this quiz will test participants their knowledge of reading palms, ability of recognise a jumbled picture and test language skills such as identifying where its a Thunderbird or a sun visor that protects ones eyes from the sun (it works better in Japanese.)
Game Gear
Simulation
Good roster of rogues and more respectable folk to take on in games of Poker and on the slot machine. The UFO Catcher crane game is good fun and the memory challenge gives the brain a good work out long before the DS. Roulette, Black Jack, Billiards and more make this purchase not so much of a gamble.
Playstation
Rhythm
M-Flo, DJ FX, DJ Nagureo and The Bald Head amongst others give gamers a dance off worthy of the floors of the Shinjuku white rooms. Fine, foot tapping tunes and spine tingling beats.
