Subtitled Futari, or two people, as Ryoko takes a back seat role for Kaori to lend a hand. Fans of the series and genre will lap up the J Pop tinged department store style BGM and the illustration is exquisite.
Sega Saturn
A Bit Special
Basically a fan disk to Zico whose brand of Brazilian football enthralled many and boosted his popularity in Japan into the stratosphere. The title translates as Zicos thinking football, though Genkis Portuguese isnt quite what it used to be. Plenty of footage of the original galactico with some top tips to hit the back on the onion bag.
Game Gear

Enjoy the legend of Momotaro which is a well known fairytale deep in the Japanese psyche and rich in oni demons and intriguing cultural references in this card and dice based title.
Game Gear

Travel Japan racking up the mahjong tiles for a game of the ancient Chinese table game. Smoothly presented with some nice graphical sugar to wash down the serious business of the game.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
Famed for its footage of Ms. Chisa Yokoyama performing the Sakura Wars anthem complete with full Sakura Wars, Shinto inspired outfit with some good backing from the loyal crowd of devotees. The media disk takes the form of an imperial era newspaper which is scanned for info with certain sections revealing mini dating games and plenty for the Sakura Wars fan. The presentation is excellent too: a small example being the greeting when the Saturn is booted up which varies from a morning Ohayou! To an evening Konbanwa, along with a few special dates along the way.
Game Gear
Simulation
Introduced by the little Known Gear Kun, this quiz will test participants their knowledge of reading palms, ability of recognise a jumbled picture and test language skills such as identifying where its a Thunderbird or a sun visor that protects ones eyes from the sun (it works better in Japanese.)
Game Gear
Simulation
Good roster of rogues and more respectable folk to take on in games of Poker and on the slot machine. The UFO Catcher crane game is good fun and the memory challenge gives the brain a good work out long before the DS. Roulette, Black Jack, Billiards and more make this purchase not so much of a gamble.
Playstation
Rhythm
M-Flo, DJ FX, DJ Nagureo and The Bald Head amongst others give gamers a dance off worthy of the floors of the Shinjuku white rooms. Fine, foot tapping tunes and spine tingling beats.

The Winning Post series is one of Koei’s cash cows in Japan funding its Dynasty Warriors warchest. This is a thoroughbred title for the wannabee Frankie Dettori’s.
Sega Saturn

This RPG comes from the solid stable of ‘Guilty Gear’ producer Arc. Play in charge of a group of hard studying magicians.
Soundtracks
Soundtrack
Eight tracks that delve deeper into space than any Virgin manned flight. Fitting tribute to a fine series, yet the best compliment we can pay is that it stands up perfectly well as a music CD alone. Twin lasers all round.
PS2
One on One Beat Em Up
Arc System Works proves its no schmuck using the PS2 technology to produce an arcade armada in Guilty Gear with which to plunder SNK and Capcom’s 2D fighting warchests. The smooth conversion to the PS2 looks stunning: the sakura setting particularly breath taking, with fluid gameplay and Guilty Gears distinctive fighting systems from the series can be implemented here.
Playstation
RPG
Imaginative quest with seven different players selectable, each with their own story intertwined with the others in the cast making for an excellent replay value. Combat is particularly strong with development of a player’s skills possible through practise of the same techniques. A high degree of in game freedom to truly explore the fantasy world.
Dreamcast
A Bit Special
One for the collectors with the networks sadly defunct. Yet it delivered to a gaming public the happy days of chat with fellow Dc users, email, the additional contents of Dricas, the Dreamcast Home Page and of course those epic PSO battles and friendships.
Sega Saturn
Stimulation
Love adventure with a wee bit extra that deems this title worthy of the yellow label warning. Interested parties should have good kanji ability or good luck if they hope to avoid offending Yuki, Ayako, Hikaru et al.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
An adventure with plenty of political intrigue as the Psycotron technology goes astray being shipped from old Communist Russia to the US of A. Plenty of FMV interviewing follows as the player is charged with the task of charging someone with the disappearance amongst the wreckage of political paranoia.
Mega Drive

Arcade style play mechanics with international teams, cat like keepers and prima donna strikers. Simple to pick up and play but very enjoyable as a result.

PS2
Side Scrolling Beat Em Up
Draws on the Yankee gang styling that runs a deep undercurrent in Japanese society: street punks with distinctive kanji adorned clothing and often close held affinity to rev head bikes. And what a fine source material for any game to draw on. Those Chinese character kanji appear over the fights to add manga style sound effects. The first mistake would be to under-estimate a female opponent: the girls give as good as they’ve got. But before that players must break out of jail and beat the boss: a tough crim which takes a bit of button bashing when the challenge pops up. Has a feel inspired by Tecmos Kunio as iron bars and other suitably vicious weapons can be utilised for a brief stint. As can an adrenalin fuelled assault – possibly the result of too many of those caffeine filled bottles?
