To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Soul Hackers, and also sold though a special pop-up store in Akihabara, comes these delightful fridge magnets to liven up any kitchen or radiator. Fine gaming art.
Soundtracks
Soundtrack
The breath-taking soundtrack to the sold-out concert that was held in Kyoto to celebrate thirty years since the release of the Disk System version of Zelda back in 1986. Many may claim to have been there, like the Caravan gaming events of the Eighties, yet now we can all be taken on a musical voyage that encapsulates the spirit of adventure dreamed up from Miyamoto san’s childhood.
PS2
Action
Spiritual sequel to Panzer Dragoon as the dragon soars through the skies, twisting to avoid other beasts to blast a fireball at the hordes below before dismounting to fight them with swishing sword in hand. Positively glistening in Square Enix polish as much as the sunny skies. Known in the West as Drakengard 2.
PS2
A Bit Special
Players trace patterns to launch attacks. The more elaborate the pattern, the more powerful the move, like a fighter. Full title: Bakufuu Slash Kizna Arashi.
Nintendo DS
Action
Treasures work remains innovative and refreshing as the developer continually reinvents itself never resting on the laurels of its underground hardcore fan base. The anime’s distinct and sometimes creepy look with lurchingly tall characters has carried over effortlessly and the whole production oozes the sort of vintage claret class you’d expect from the aptly named developer. Mass four player brawls are possible, but the one player mode makes for interesting battles with what look like extras from Spirited Away but the lightening gameplay gives little opportunity to admire the scenery.
🏆Brilliant!
Brilliant PS4
Shoot Em Up
Granted most modern shooters end up in a screen full of rainbow coloured bullets (though that said old school shooters were never short of a projectile or two.) But Cave has certainly grabbed Genki’s goat in going for a World War style of isometric background buildings as detailed polygon biplanes float into place having caught the eye with a neat bit of scaling. Plenty of on ground action as pilots fly their female characters through the on-screen onslaught. Superb stuff demonstrating Caves rich arcade heritage.
Switch
Shoot Em Up
Wonderful to have the shooter torch passed on burning so brightly. Its just a shame you are not given a split second to appreciate the detailed sprites and parallax layers. And it is a shame you might wish for the absent slowdown in some levels such is the frantic pace of the on screen onslaught. Five levels of mayhem: please remember to keep an eye out for the pigs that need rescuing.
Switch
RPG
Plenty of platform action in this RPG with combat sequences that are very reminiscent of Guardian Heroes in appearance with big, bold and brash protagonists. Very colourful and fast-paced.
PS2
Simulation
Super slick avatars with high cheek bones and designer outfits to match, all lovingly drawn but Genki fears the worst by unintentionally upsetting the apple cart whichever option is chosen in this date sim. A great Japanese language learning tool.
Soundtracks
Soundtrack
Fine, electric guitar rock tunes from Fire Shark, Hellfire, Zero Wing, Game Paradise, Tatsujin and others to make up the eleven track roster in this BGM arrange CD.

Soundtrack
Champion Wrestler, Hell’s Journey, Kikikaikai, Rastan Saga II, Parasol Stars, New Zealand Story, Don Doko Don and Cadash make up the toe tapping roster to bring back the nostalgia of some sublime games and tunes.
🏆Brilliant!
Brilliant Super Famicom
Shoot Em Up
Graphically pleasing with liberal use of colour as you guide Willow on her broomstick quest for wish-granting sweets accompanied by her fairy friend Silk. Success is rewarded with an appropriately off kilter end of level tea break. Intriguingly Willow gets to select her favourite weaponry before the offset and in game Silk can be used to attack along with the fire dragon, star frenzy or lightning assaults depending on which crystals have been collected.
Animal Crossing Figures
Figure
Known in Japan as Rakosuke, this friendly chap can often be spotted bobbing up and down in the deep blue sea. Just one of the many characters awaiting in Animal Crossing.
PS3
Action
3D battle all out action as New York seems to once again take the brunt of the meteor shower and rampaging giant monsters (but I suppose Tokyo has had more than its fair share of those.) Impressive results from the PS3 hardware and nice pacing to the relentless action.

Sixty high-grade trading card sleeves featuring the popular anime series involving plenty of ghostly goings on. Japanese Scooby Doo with spooky eastern ghouls. This sleeve features Kintaro himself.
PS2
Sports
Puritans will head straight for the Arcade mode with its accurate and unforgiving top down conversion of the vintage coin op. Those less familiar with the original will find much fun and frolics wading around in the Grand Prix mode which features the ability to power up to a massive mobile, or to increase jump potential. Ambulances smash their way through the drivers to get to stricken drivers and there are more on screen calamities than Wacky Races. A fine claret that has matured to near arcade perfection.
Famicom Cart
Simulation
HAL never did anything by half and this pinball game is as slick as they come. The ball is small giving plenty of room to the US themed table with nice touches that can be triggered by expertly hitting the switch, usually by waiting for the ball to be on the tip of the flipper. Tunes that are totally chipper make for a delightful dose of Famicom nostalgia.
