Sony Hardware
Accessory
Very snazzy cover for the PSP with a look of Gundam, but this series quickly growing to such mega proportions is based on plastic PVC robot models. Soft case with belt strap.
Super Famicom
Sports
Okamoto san pulls out a blinder in this officially licensed update and congratulations must go for being able to bridge the generations from Master System to Super Famicom in her releases. Realistic approach and plenty of Hawaiian sunshine.
Super Famicom
Sports
Japanese version of John Madden 93 and EA pull out all the locker room tricks to bring the sport home for the first time in great realism.
Super Famicom
Sports
Fine example of EA’s early potential in covering all bases with its American Football knowledge. Released in Japan under the Imagineer banner, but this is firmly Madden for the Super Famicom territory.
Nintendo Hardware
Accessory
A puffy cover to protect your DS Lite and keep it from harms way. Stylish blue colour that complements the system nicely.
Sony Hardware
Controller
A very unique controller with a somewhat limited capacity in being only compatible with the one title: Wai Wai Trump Taisen for the Playstation. Hori have still gone to town though to ensure it meets their high standards.
Super Famicom
Sports
The sequel has twelve teams for you to try and guide to glory. Hudson has had to remove the hu Stadium of the PC Engine edition, but there are plenty of extras to compensate. Classic match ups possible between the likes of the ‘Wholes’ and the ‘Buffers’. Two player mode.
Super Famicom
Sports
Quite arsoter of characters to choose from from yound whippersnapper to seasoned bass vet before taking to the wee boat and venturing out into the lake. Sensors give a good idea as to where to cast off and then the view turns to the underwater camera and the challenge of bagging a bass worthy of bragging about back in the club house.
Playstation
RPG
Very interesting results of Square focusing purely on the action RPG and platform gameplay of this title, without the CG graphics we have come to expect. The results are an incredibly playable title – a real joy to savour with plenty of humour. The bosses are skillfully crafted and the use of the clock to alter playing environments a clever touch.
Nintendo DS
Simulation
Taking characters and inspiration from many anime series including Gundam Seed, Super Robo sees plenty of battle against rival mechs with even more pre bout bravado. Combat is intuitive and the battles whiz along as the robot school proves a little too cramped for so many famous machines.
Sega Saturn
A Bit Special
Bishojo means beautiful girl and there are plenty in this variety game that lets you sample many a mini game: from poker to roulette via black jack, spot the difference even mole bashing. Well presented with plenty of beauty pageant hostesses.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Very tidy RPG based on the Zoids world with impressive 3D battles that introduced saving money you find in game into a bank. Get hold of the baddest Zoid to wreak havoc on the other prehistoric inspired robots.
PS2
Platform
Saving hostages who show their gratitude, looking at the sheer shock on faces of enemy soldiers as they get snuck up on by stealth, charging all guns blazing with a tidy power up including the tasty double machine gun, feeding your face until it grows a little too big, and vehicles galore…. Enough to make you well up with pride. Plenty of nw vehicles to command and giant boss ships to let rip into. A distinct shift in this instalment, but gives the player more chances (at times) and plenty of firepower for encouragement. Wearing its 2D tats with pride, Metal Slug: we salute you.
Mega Drive
Simulation
Feudal Japan based war sim from the illustrious and infamous Wolf Team showing plenty of promise. Trying to unite the warring fractions of a sliced up country requires the strongest of armies and a legion of loyal samurai.
Sega Saturn
Simulation
A version of the popular school life/dating sim. Features classical anime artwork to make any otaku worth their Shonen Jump go week at the knees.
Playstation
Sports
Plenty of hard work is required in getting the shoulder barges and sliding tackles in to get the ball in a decent shooting position. A real battle of attrition in two player mode. The midfield general of football titles.
Soundtracks
Soundtrack
A fine and appropriately quirky bonus disk to accompany the off the wall Seaman 2 game released on the PS2. Nice collectable for fans of the Sega star.
Playstation
Simulation
A cracking title in which you get to become a master crane operator through the various stages and challenges including pulling out fish as in the child’s toy fishing game. There is also an expert course to graduate aswell as the grind of work mode where going about your duties is strangely gratifying. Only in Japan, but well worth a spin. Known as Crane Master ni Narou in Japan. See also Shovel Master and Machine master in the Kenki Ippai series.
Playstation
Sports
The budget version of Dynamite Soccer 98 plays a quick fire, arcade style game with the ball pinging around in the midfield area. The sprightly mechanics make for a fine football engine with excitement generated from the quick fire action.
