Funky, fresh, fly-guy Hideki Naganuma shows off his talents in this cracking CD based on the X-Box incarnation. Perfectly suited to the gameplay, but equally stands alone as a fine compilation of modern Tokyo tunes.
PS5
Shooter
Sequel to the superb Mega Drive and Super Famicom crackers, Leynos 2 features more exo skeleton related mayhem and maintains the clunky metal feel of the original as the suits are dropped behind enemy lines and straight into the thick of it. Ginormous bosses and relentless onslaught from enemy mechs makes this one tough exoskeleton to crack. A true delight to have it revamped for the PS5. Bravo!
PS5
Shoot Em Up
Cult developer Beep is appropriately drawn to this distinctive looking shooter that harks back to the cel-shaded original for its inspiration. The look really makes it stand out from the crowd and will no-doubt be fondly recalled with those familiar with its predecessors. Sometimes spelt Radilgy.
Figures
Figure
Fine battalion of Gundam mechs making a marvellous role call of gashapons when lined up together. A real treat for the discerning Gundam devotee.
PS2
Sports
Billiards or pool done very well – the ball physics seem perfect, but alas you can’t bump the table to get the ball to drop in. Old school pool hall where you can almost smell the cigarette smoke hanging in the air alongside the inoffensive lift tunes.
Figures

Sofvi Sculpture Studio tribute to the famed Kamen Rider to adorn any desktop with pride.

The ancients from Final Fantasy XIV are reproduced with incredible attention to detail in the facial expression – a slightly concerning expression under the mask. Incredible production values to this high end collectable.

The ancients from Final Fantasy XIV are reproduced with incredible attention to detail in the facial expression. A must-have collectable for fans of the series.
Figures
Figure
Fine art from Final Fantasy XIV in the slim shape of Venat. As you’d expect from Square Enix, the production values are incredibly high and this is high end video gaming art.

The fun, stunned expression of Cactuar captured in this delightful festival mask from the eternal Final Fantasy series.

Soundtrack
Known as Zombie Nation in the West, this is a true Japan-centric classic made with its Nihon audience in mind and it revels in its cultural delight, much like this soundtrack that captures the devious nature of the classic Famicom game. Subtitled: ROM Cassette Disk In Meldac.
Brilliant Mega Drive
Shoot Em Up
Going back to the halcyon era of the crack MD developer Wolf Team and re-releasing this 1992 space-based, side scrolling shoot em up. Genki thought we had mis-spelled its Mega CD sister title Sol Feace all these years, but Sol Deace only made it to North America on cart form apparently. The chip tunes alone are something to behold and the waves of enemy swarms judged perfectly by the developers before the boss rush.
Switch
Conversion and handing over the torch from the Dreamcast to keep the world of shooters illuminated. Jaw dropping, smoothly animated visuals and attention to detail in smoke plumages and tumbling shrapnel, not forgetting the immense explosions. Arming your copter with a second weapon option as well as targeting adds a tactical aspect to the military themed, vertically scrolling shmup action.
Figures
Figure
Incredible appearance to this fine figure that came with the PS5 version of Tekken 8. The attachable wing lights up to create a mean, moody representation of the series’ star Jin Kazama.
Switch
One on One Beat Em Up
A veritable dojo of martial artists and super heroes with the full roster being made of: X-Men, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom, Marvel vs Capcom 2 and The Punisher. Only The Punisher hasn’t featured on Genki in previous format releases being a coin-op, but the Final Fight format will feel very much at home to Capcom connoisseurs and cognoscenti.

Three vinyl record disks in a fitting tribute to the side scrolling beat ’em up’s fabulous score. Thirty five tracks to savour – the ultimate getting ready for a night out album, hopefully without recreating the fight scenes!
Bandai Hardware
Accessory
Very handy piece of kit to enjoy the wealth of multiplayer games on the system. Not too easily come by these days, but not as sort after as the holy grail of WS accessories: the headphone adaptor.
Super Famicom
RPG
The final SFC Saga instalment develops Final Fantasy influenced sublime visuals with the series’ freedom to roam and select quests to deliver a highly accomplished example of the depth to Square’s RPG repertoire. The developer demonstrates a firm grasp of the Super Famicom’s architecture in realising a detailed gaming world with an aurally pleasing soundtrack to stir the emotions. Plenty of imagination has gone into the game world too with characters ranging from snowman to pirate via elephant and lobster.
PS4
Shoot Em Up
Despite some tidy 3D trickery, Psyvariar is a strictly 2D shooter with old school play mechanics. The array of options spoils shmup fans with tate vertical mode and two player option, besides dangerous play seemingly rewarded. Hard for an old school gamer like Genki to get our lengthening teeth into encouraging risk taking, but many modern minded gamers will be fine and flourish with the concept.
