Taking the original Reboot that sought authenticity to the original and cutting a bit loose on the broomstick with a new character, extra multipliers, graphical shift and the highly amusing enemy capture adding much hilarity. Gaming veterans Beep reveal their retro tattoos and it’s a young witch on a broomstick. A fine series to go back to, especially such a relatively unknown version.

M2 hears Genki’s cry for a Super Easy mode to go with the Arcade difficulty. The graphical style looks superb with the foreground vehicles lovingly realised and the Gothic style to the chacters making this ooze its STG style.

A high end Playstation project with incredibly detailed animation and dramatic voice acting to crank up the tension, not that it particularly needs it at time.

Solid arcade parts used for the body, joystick and switches with a finger friendly button layout and plenty of space to rest a wrist on. Not that much rest will be had in using it for Ehrgeiz as it is themed with the logo looking good against the subtle metal. But of course it works a treat on a wealth of Playstation genres, not just fight titles.

Video System have remained true to the sport in this fine conversion featuring Nigel Mansell. The cars can be tweaked and the overhead perspective works a treat.

Sadly not the 776 release which attracts pension funds, such is its year on year value inflation. But true gamers will cherish this Nintendo RPG just as much. As ever, Nintendo’s standards set the bar which others must attain and this fine piece of programming could only be called a flop in terms of the Fosbury Flop, such as it raises the bar. A beautiful gaming world and a moving gaming experience.

Seamlessly animated with all the panache that goes into SNK’s characters and backgrounds especially when it comes to the rich heritage of the Fatal Fury series. The new faces settle in well and are far from stereotypical. Collecting power ups is strangely invigorating too.

Funky, foot tapping beats which players must match to the correct letter on their keyboard and at the right time. Super fly videos rolling the background, not that the player themselves will have much time to savour them. Plenty of variety in beats too, but Genki wont be trying any tricky trance tunes again.

The Kids Station controller simplifies the buttons from the control pad making for simple mini games, but plenty of fun. The lower age range makes this a great tool for those learning Japanese, especially at Genki’s level.

A challenging platformer released early in the Neo Geos life that takes on a sort of medieval fantasy look matching its magician hero. Yet our hero can transform into other guises including a ninja justifying the Eastern infused backgrounds of golden Buddhas. The swirling backgrounds are very impressive and there is certainly plenty of challenging meat on the bones of a well structured platform romp.

Redesigned packaging to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of this still stunning Super Famicom platformer with gothic overtones, stunning shafts of sunshine and fleeting shadows. A rare SFC title in the mould of such sublime titles as Demons Crest and Nosferatu with a twist of the graphical skills of the Actraiser teams. Some of the in-game assailants and bosses are more than a bit twisted looking like they just broke out of the Splatter House. The main hero can thankfully upgrade his skills as the supernatural bosses are dispatched – all the way up to the big hoedown with the Demon King. And these transformations help even if the concept of becoming a demon to beat them doesn’t sit too nicely when surrounded by such creepy creatures.

A lack of shadowing does make avoiding some of the hazards across the castle a bit haphazard for our young samurai. But the levels are well set out and Irem have designed an impressive set of depth to this action based title. Known in the West as Deadly Towers.

SNK truly mastered the ability to produce fun games in 2D such as Metal Slug which reminded the gaming cognoscenti there was life and gameplay without polygons. Pure refined game mechanics and delightful in game humour to bring a smile to the face of the most grizzled gaming veteran. This is a dream conversion to the home system and a realistic option considering the original cart versions astronomical prices.

Fans of the late, great Michael Jackson will rejoice in this tribute to him bringing you the chance to moonwalk across the living room like the man himself and keep neighbours on their toes with appropriate exclamations.

Zip speed race title from ADK that graced the SNK system with its isometric action. Full of nice touches such as the tyre skid marks on the road and the headlights effect when in tunnels. Nice, solid feel to the sprites due to the isometric perspective and its arcade roots ensure drivers get good warning arrows as for where the next break neck bend leads. Relentless soundtrack does little to encourage breaking through the varied terrains.

Join Bomberman’s quest to make the golden Bomberman statue his own by winning the three medals. All of the enemies and levels are of a spooky nature, but in a cuddly Bomberman style. Gameplay is in a similar vein to Columns.
