Famicom Cart

Here we have all the games in the Famicom Cart Section.
Famicom Cart
Shoot Em Up
A fine blast in the Fantasy Zone style as players pilot their vessel (looking very much like an Opa Opa) in the horizontally scrolling shooting levels. Unusually the ship has stats like in a good RPG and the levels can be boosted by handing over some hard earned currency to the friendly shopkeeper who seems more than willing to assist.
Famicom Cart
Action
Unforgiving gameplay from the origin of the esteemed Nintendo Famicom series. Highly collectable. Goemon is known as Mystical Ninja in the Occident and is a Genki legend. ‘Ganbare’ means to do your best: enjoying the company of the townsfolk, but not forgetting to fight the odd ‘oni’ every now and then

Famicom Cart
Action
Goemon has to be Genki’s fave series as our star visits towns and captures alot of the Japanese spirit in them. The superb action sequences purvey the pure class of the developer. This small cart packs alot of punch.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Highly playable platform version of the popular anime series involving plenty of ghostly goings on. Japanese Scooby Doo with spooky eastern ghouls that make for a culturally refreshing and delightful platform romp.
Famicom Cart
Shoot Em Up
Incredibly fast into the screen 3D shooting action which handles some impressively sized bosses. Very impressive results from the hardware and no sign of a struggle. Clever use of colouring and backgrounds to give a varied feel to the relentless action.
Famicom Cart
Action
Japan exclusive, four wheel drive action racer with smaller cars to allow plenty of on screen action. Feels like the inspiration behind Micro machines, but don’t let Codemasters hear that. Its necessary to bash opponent vehicles off the screen and quite satisfying to do so. Especially when tuned up with a raging power up on the go.
Famicom Cart
Board Game
A fine collectable and curio for the Famicom combining board game and video game in one very fine package. The attention to detail in the production is staggering as up to four players traverse the game world and board map simultaneously.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Toe tapping chip tunes do justice to the original soundtrack as players cruise the streets in Ecto 1 to scale buildings to capture the ghosts inside. A memorable boss rush run in with a naked Keymaster awaits! A very solid licensed title – a combination that not often goes together – based on the blockbusting film.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Popular role playing game that unusually seems set in ancient Greece or the Roman empire. A good emporium is needed to ensure being sufficiently equipped to progress in the turn-based combat.
Famicom Cart
Action
Godzilla towers on screen, swinging arms wildly to progress through the levels against a brutal barrage of projectiles. A good kaijyuu scrap awaits at the end of level. Some sections are played in the style of horizontal scrolling shooting with Mothra taking centre stage.
Famicom Cart
Sports
Fine Famicom family fun as players ruin a good walk by following the ball around the course. Nice animations of the player and the split screen map works well to set the standard for many golf games to follow.
Famicom Cart
Sports
Nicely presented as players sign up to join the golf club and then hit the course with their cheeky caddy in tow. Players shots are viewed from both the third person and overhead perspectives and the game is competent is all aspects.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Cracking retro blast as players bound around on screen with a bold palette, funky tunes and full on action gameplay. Bombs are dropped to reveal items to help progress whilst avoiding the mice and the hot pursuit of the gun wielding authorities. A superb license that shouldn’t be missed.
Famicom Cart
Action
Sequel to the cracking retro blast as players bound around on screen with a bold palette, funky tunes and full on action gameplay. Bombs are dropped to reveal items to help progress whilst avoiding the mice and the hot pursuit of the gun wielding authorities. A superb license that shouldn’t be missed.
Famicom Cart
Shooter
Vertically scrolling helicopter shooter with the heli sounding a little kaput as it takes down enemy bases and tanks, planes ships: pretty much an entire battalion.
Famicom Cart
Platform
A solid Famicom platformer made more challenging (to say the least!) By being played as two characters simultaneously. Jumps must be timed to perfection and the male brain at least may suffer a bit of melt down trying to keep an eye on both our gaming heroes as they journey through Tokyo.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Pixel perfect Square graphics as it matches its own sprawling epic Final Fantasy with immense graphical attention to detail and imaginative boss battles plus plenty of side quests against wonderfully realised monsters. Sheer clash.
Famicom Cart
Platform
Light hearted platform action as the Asterix style lead character collects squashed opponents to use them as platform blocks when it a tight fix in order to progress. Plenty of variety in levels from pre historic to space age as the mosaic like picture is gradually pieced back together.
Famicom Cart
Action
Could be (badly) translated as Evil World Island and there are plenty of sea related escapades as our hero tosses barrels at all and sundry to clear the level. That includes the ginormous proportions of the bosses based loosely on Popeye’s rival Brutus at times. A good title from a solid stable.
Famicom Cart
Side Scrolling Beat Em Up
A long standing series unlike Genki when surrounded by the thugs in the game who soon gang up on those initially lacking the necessary martial skills. Yet the games appeal is strong as players meet plenty of characters on their way through the platform levels on to a showdown with the big boss. Playing like Double Dragon on platform levels makes for an interesting twist on the side scrolling beat em up.

One on One Beat Em Up
Whilst Genki may be more like the bowtie wearing and rather rotund referee, we certainly appreciate the sharp skills needed to be able to land the moves as this mixed martial arts fest takes to the ring. A small target appears on the opponents body as to where the hit will land in order to give the pugilists a chance to block and counter making for good, tactical bouts.
Famicom Cart
Action
Cherished action RPG that takes a martial arts theme skilfully blending tough looking avatars, hit points and actual fight sequences in the martial arts mecca Temple of Shaolin itself.
Famicom Cart
Action
Dig through the mazes utilising warps and power ups to clear the section, plus the odd blast from the laser gun. Full title: ‘Hottaman no Chitei Tanken.’
Famicom Cart
RPG
A role player set in a feudal Japan of temples, samurai and giant cat fish with human faces. Players traverse the landscape getting into the odd scrape with a grizzly bear or two.
Famicom Cart
RPG
Tidy, diminutive sprites that mean a screen fills the full map of that particular dungeon or maze. Definitely more of an action RPG with sword fights en route to grabbing key items with the chip tunes blasting out.
Famicom Cart
Sports
Superb compilation of sports in clay pigeon shooting, archery, long jump high jump… Pixel perfect timing and a good button rhythm are a requisite as Konami makes a big splash.
Famicom Cart
Action
Players chip away at the blocks of ice forming the platforms to make their way up the screen to get to the top before savouring the bonus level. A tactical ice mallet puts paid to anyone trying to stop you enjoy the view. Classic gaming from the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Famicom Cart
Shooter
Run and gun action from the past masters SNK as players can almost feel the grenade pin gripped between their teeth. Being from the day when games were a challenge rather than a steady progression, the action is tough and the onslaughts relentless. Thankfully tanks and helicopters can be commandeered in order to progress.
