The first title in the series to use the much vaunted Atomiswave hardware from the arcades and the results are mightily impressive 3D backgrounds, one in particular harking of the seminal light effects of the closing scene of Blade Runner as light pours in through the window. The game itself has a very fresh and fly street feel with smart avatars and funky fighters as SNK builds on the 2002 incarnation. The watch mode is a good way to see how it should be done with plenty of tricks up the thirty six protagonists sleeves.
