The title translates as Pacific Storm and features as you no doubt guessed, a take on the events of the Pacific Ocean during World War II. The scene is set with grainy footage of the war (and that’s nothing to do with the Saturns video capabilities.) Cut scenes use computer modelling to replicate the action. Saturn completists will no doubt value the authentic appearing, canvas booklet which replicates war time document holders.

Genki appreciates the value of a cheesey bit of FMV in gaming history and there are some nice clips in this bowling game. Players must pick a partner from the not quite roster of spring chickens. The bowling action is well represented with some good reactions from your partner, however many pins go down.

Captures the market in sky scraper sims in one swoop as players build up their dream tower from the base up and get to add delightful extras such as the office, the noodle shop, the hamburger bar or even the bag section of a department store. Then the ambitious architect can sit back and enjoy the results like little computer people watching the good folk go about their business.

Gets those French Fries laced with salt and watch the drink sales soar. Nothing too fried too close to the big roller coasters though as no one wants to see what their fellow park attendees have been having for lunch. Genre breaking title to treat gamers with an eye for the unusual.

The Tokimeki phenomena is absolutely immense in Japan and as such fan service releases such as this go down a treat there. But Konami have kept an eye out for the growing band of overseas fans with some English language messages and menu translations when accessed via a PC. On the Saturn the disk is crammed with media with music video clips, art gallery presentations even the chance to play paper, scissors, stone with your favourite Tokimeki character.

High school dating game where attending the right class is essential to woo your heart throb. Lovingly created, candy sweet graphics.

Rather off kilter adventure with plenty of FMV sequences as you solve puzzles and gain necessary items such as oil for a rusty door to progress. Its not until the second disk that things start going a bit astray though. Impressive attention to the graphics from Sega. Known in the West as Lunacy. Full title ‘Gekka Mugentan Torico.’

Gaining entry to the winners paddock involves plenty of hard slog in the wind and rain before feeling the sun on your back and the taste of sweet champagne in the enclosure.

Lushly pastel shaded vertically scrolling shoot ’em up from the reliable Konami stable celebrating ten years of Twinbee. Off – shoot of the Gradius and Parodius series. Shooter heads may find its frivolous gameplay a little easy, but everyone will enjoy the ride.

An interesting look into the psyche of the Japanese game developer with some bizarre and often culturally confused imagery ensuring the action remains fresh and invigorating. This is actually a compilation of the two Super Famicom versions Parodius and Ultimate Parodius souped up for the Saturn. Also known as Gokujyo Parodius.

Subtitled: Darkstalkers’ Revenge. The Saturn was made for titles of this ilk: wonderfully balanced characters hammering it out in 2D bliss. You can feel Capcom’s spark return in this Saturn classic.

Final part of the series on the Saturn sees strides made to improve the play mechanics over Vampire Hunter and includes the exquisite death moves. Incredibly fluid animation with Capcom squeezing out every iota from the Saturn and Ram cart to bring the arcade experience home.

Multiplayer madness as up to six players battle it out in jeeps using various over the top weapons to destroy each other’s vehicle. Lots of graft has gone into coding the visuals which look great as the screen zooms in and out, not quite as slick as the intro mind. But the gameplay is a real hoot too.

Well crafted kick around with four player mode a scream, although as such unlikely to be contributing much to the Respect campaign. Utilises world teams and the game engine has a good balance of arcadey feel with varied goal scoring.

Reservoir Dogs style justice deliverance was never this much fun in the film, but this time you play the cop as you gun down the men in black before they can shoot you. Classic arcade action which was always a Sega strength.

Gun games don’t get any better than this. Graphically more detailed as seen in ‘House of the Dead’, but gameplay wise this epoch setting title has yet to be bettered. God bless it’s Reservoir Dogs style rogues!
