PS Vita
RPG
Reminiscent of Princess Crown with its beautiful pastel shading and use of contrast between light and dark, besides the heroine princess main protagonist. Feels like a brooding fairy tale coming to life.
PSP
Sports
Fine scaling to ensure the on pitch action also remains on-screen. Graphically very sound and a smooth passing engine with the razzmatazz of the crowd and excitable commentators.
Dreamcast
Puzzle
Classic Japanese puzzle action with frantic pace, anime characters and plenty of cussing in despair and whooping in delight. Coloured spheres must be matched with other colours. The twist being your platform can only hold so much weight before it gradually gives way under the strain of too many spheres and gets pushed to the bottom of the screen. Fast flowing and full of fun.
PS2
Sports
Special and very limited edition pack containing the game playable in six different languages (including English.) The ultimate inclusion is a very high quality Adidas football shirt complete with Winning Eleven club badge. Ever more realistic with even the players hair (and mullets in some cases) moving in the direction they turn in.
XBOX 360
Sports
The Winning Eleven series updates and renovates itself on the 360 offering the widest array of options for its home console. Graphically breaks previous records on the console absolutely dripping style with players features easily recognised. Yet this is no FIFA – only the well-worked move will result in a rippling onion bag with the quicker play engine being further honed towards a modern masterpiece. The AI is varied and being all-important to the league challenge, makes for a fine knock round in 1P mode. Crossing and heading works a treat as Genki found: getting to the by-line a traditional yet preferred choice of attack. If England fans can bear the reminder from the front cover…
PS4
Action
Brutal battles as the terrifying force of the weaponry is felt. Starkly mixes cyborgs and giant organic insectoid bosses, creating a cinematic like experience.
PS4
Action
Has a feel of Zombies Ate My Neighbours as players open fire on all manner of bugs and critters to keep their crops healthy. An unusual approach to farming, but plenty of fun a result.
PS4
Action
Like a Hollywood Blockbuster, Destiny 2 grabs the bull by the horns and charges for its entire duration with relentless combat, huge pyros and dramatic score with obligatory voice acting.
Switch
Action
Plays like a souped up King of Monsters with giant kaijyu tossing opponents into skyscrapers that they dwarf. As with all gaming, its great to be able to enjoy a bit of improper action in tossing around the various items in the city arenas.
Switch
RPG
Very modern looking RPG in terms of its unusual, yet effective and striking, visual look. The combat allows the players to get involved and show-off a move or two. Characters futures are affected by the in game decisions.
Switch
Puzzle
Funky, colourful and vibrant graphics bring the indie band and love quest elements of this devilishly simple puzzle game to life.
Switch
Action
Running a space station is quite a complicated conundrum at times, so if feeling stressed, maybe head for the entertainment decks with its funfair and cat cafe? The bio deck is prone to the occasional extra terrestrial invader, but its all in a days work.
PS3
Sports
Baseball game simulator that looks like watching a televised game with the switch of cameras and succinct commentary. Very slick.
PS3
One on One Beat Em Up
A fine fight series to see off the competition through the many battles over the years. The rock soundtrack pumps the adrenalin with intuitive combos and fun, varied fight arenas.
PS3
A Bit Special
The small, monkey like pet comes to life on the TV and those family members in the room are on screen too thanks to the Eye Toy. The family can then interact with the monkey: giving them a wash, playing tennis, generally monkeying around. Innovative as ever from Sony.
Soundtracks
Soundtrack
Superb tracks from the Sonic Wings series with the initial release, the sequel, Sonic Wings 3 and Sonic Wings Limited all included that really give you a lift and put a spring in your fire fingers.
GameBoy Color
RPG
Play as monster trainer Kabin who has been called to restore order to the monsters running rampage throughout the Iraldi Kingdom. Armed with a torch you hunt down these naughty beasts before tackling them. But bolster your power before taking on the worst fiends.
Animal Crossing Figures
Figure
Isabelle (known in Japan as Shizue) looking very pretty in pink leaf logo shirt and friendly face to welcome you to Animal Crossing.
PS4
Shoot Em Up
Gunbird, Gunbird 2, Gunbarich, Sengoku Ace, Sengoku Cannon and Sengoku Blade on show like a yakuza’s tattoos as Psikyo whips its shirt off and flexes its back-catalogue muscles. Genki loves the Sengoku series varied locales and ships that combine the future and past of Japan in one crazy melee.
Gamecube
Action
Gameplay has two sections: on-rails, Star Fox style and free roaming shooting. Gameplay takes place on the back of a dragon a la Panzer Dragoon. The anime based story revolves around being transported into an alternate reality where battles on the backs of Dragons are commonplace. Developed by Treasure.
Nintendo 3DS
RPG
Bowser comes to the fore as Mario & Luigi negotiate through his body whilst Bowser himself happily romps around terra firma. Colourful, clear graphics help eagle eyed players spot the key to progress. Lashing of the Big N, triple-A polish.
