Here we have all the games in the Playstation Section.
Playstation
Simulation
A cracking title in which you get to become a master crane operator through the various stages and challenges including pulling out fish as in the child’s toy fishing game. There is also an expert course to graduate aswell as the grind of work mode where going about your duties is strangely gratifying. Only in Japan, but well worth a spin. Known as Crane Master ni Narou in Japan. See also Shovel Master and Machine master in the Kenki Ippai series.

Tasmanian Devil styled Crash Bandicoot charges into the screen adding to the feel of rampaging as he spins and bounds across obstacles and adversaries. Genki particularly likes ice levels with reflective sheets of ice and plenty of slip sliding away. Happy memories.

Playstation
Action
Many fine gaming moments have been provided through improper gameplay: playing he game not quite as intended. Crash Bandicoot Carnival has the feel of such a game as players crash crates on top of opponents heads and scrap it out for power-ups in the arena based mash-up melee.
Playstation
Sports
Crazy chaos as Crash hits the road and lives up to his name as racers spin and bump around the locales with multiplayer mayhem a real treat.
Playstation
RPG
Bonus disk to the well-loved series with beautifully animated sprites that give this board game a wonderful isometric appearance. Fantasy Japanese creativity at its best.
Playstation
RPG
Kenji Eno’s opus caused a real stir in the gaming world at the time of its release. This game involves choosing various options such as to open a drawer or door to try and get to the bottom of why Laura’s father has murdered a patient in the hospital he works. Unnerving action at times as the gaming world warps like a psychotic episode.
Playstation
One on One Beat Em Up
Plethora of zany characters from the anime hero Dam Dam to a fish head on legs which have to jump on each others shadows to win the bout. A glimpse of the creativity Sony harnesses when its developers are given a free reign.

Playstation
Rhythm
Far better to practise in the comfort of your own home before unleashing your moves on the arcade groupies. Genki keeps the curtains firmly shut when grooving and gyrating, for now…
Playstation
Rhythm
Time to get deep and funky as those with rhydhm strut their stuff to the likes of M Flo, Tiger Yamato and The Bald Head in this foot tapping compilation of tidy J Beats.
Playstation
Rhythm
M-Flo, DJ FX, DJ Nagureo and The Bald Head amongst others give gamers a dance off worthy of the floors of the Shinjuku white rooms. Fine, foot tapping tunes and spine tingling beats.
Playstation
Sports
Few will forget the gameplay of Daredevil Derby 3D if they sampled it back in the day. Even today the results are impressive as the whole screen rotates to the players turns of their vehicle. And its not just cities that players will race through: most memorable is the cloud level which sees players fly through a path in the clouds as a giant airship avoiding the distractions of the seagulls. Known in the West as Supersonic Racers.
Playstation
One on One Beat Em Up
Kazumi and co lock horns in the original Dead or Alive. Makes good use of the grapple feature which can be timed to counter act an attack. Revisited by Team Ninja for a make over proving well balanced gameplay withstands the test of time. There’s nothing too well balanced about the female protagonist’s chests however…
Playstation
Simulation
Live the childhood dream and put on your white drivers gloves and kick back in your drivers cabin as you ferry the good citizens of Tokyo around the Yamanote Line amongst others: the busiest and most famous train line in Japan with 30 stations. Keep to the timetable with varying light and weather conditions including some torrential downpours. Brings a new dimension to on the rails gameplay and adds a new aspect to the series with full motion captured graphics.
Playstation
Rhythm
Self-titled musical adventure game, creators follow our funky dolphin through a showcase of techno infested waters, swimming through underwater cables to beautifully illuminated crystal mines with clams opening and flowers blooming to the beats.
Playstation
Sports
Horse racing and breeding for the Playstation with very nice graphics. Its very compelling to bring up a young foal to eventually win the cup, before being put out to pasture.
Playstation
One on One Beat Em Up
Sweepingly huge arenas as Koei invigorates the fight fest by making battles projectile based. Players never go split screen like DragonBall Z however: they are always on the same screen. Innovative and well executed.
Playstation
Platform
Pseudo 2.5 3D look to the platforming action with some delightful Konami classy touches such as making a splash tubing down the waterfall or hitting the backside of the animal to be able to use it for higher reaching jumps. The jungle looks ace and the overall package shows plenty of care and attention.
Playstation
Shoot Em Up
Vertical, arcade – style blaster complete with all powerful laser to liberally apply to frazzle all on screen. Chain attacks are also possible boosting your score multiplier and adding a new dimension to gameplay. Thankfully slightly easier than its sequel to prevent any permanent retina damage. This is the second print version, hence the change in cover.
Playstation
Platform
Reminiscent of Clockwork Knight in parts, Ganbare Goemon in others as Doraemon chucks an octopus and it flies out the screen in pixelated 3D. Playable as Nobita and Shizuka, besides our infamous, earless, robotic cat, there are fine platform action sections well-worthy of a second look.
Playstation
RPG
Very expressive avatars and plenty of musical clues as to their character: be they likely to fight you, steal from you or charge you too much in a restaurant. The combat and isometric world show just how much effort has gone into this journey of adventure.
Playstation
RPG
Dragon Quest has a distinctive graphical look that captures the kawaii even in its bad boy bosses. Its easy to see why it is so cherished by its devotees and also why it was given a 3DS update. Happy, carefree RPG romping like a run through a summer meadow.
Playstation
Action
A fine find for those like Genki who missed it first time round with RPG elements to the 3D platforming sections. The combat is all hand to hand by the player as opposed to turn based and works well. Very polished fantasy look.
Playstation
One on One Beat Em Up
The 3D modelling give the series the feel of collectable DragonBall figures battling each other on the different planes the series is renowned for. But they also add a degree of the kawaii which is more appropriate for the shrunk down characters rather than the likes of big, bad Piccolo. The modelling does give more a feel of impact than the standard 2D look would, adding to the satisfaction of landing those special moves from another dimension.
Playstation
One on One Beat Em Up
This Ultimate version keeps true to its 16 Bit predecessors and utilises the extra processing power to make the game engine move swifter and looking more spiffing with some fine sound effects thrown in for the real enjoyment of the anime devotee. A tasty into whets the appetite with some smoothly animated introduction from the DBZ world. The balanced level of ambition to the graphical approach leaves a very playable title, not only for the series fan, but also those who enjoy a flurry of furious fists every now and then in their gaming.
Playstation
Simulation
Minecraft before its time as RPG fans create their own dungeon based role playing game complete with shops and the obligatory monsters.
Playstation
Sports
The budget version of Dynamite Soccer 98 plays a quick fire, arcade style game with the ball pinging around in the midfield area. The sprightly mechanics make for a fine football engine with excitement generated from the quick fire action.
Playstation
RPG
With art from the Samurai Spirits and Asuka illustrator Eithea is certainly a looker. But the voice acting and accompaniments to cut scenes have had plenty put into them. The story takes a young school boy and transforms him into a new universe after an earthquake. For our hero conversing well with the girls who befriend him actually helps his ability to battle, as does choosing a good formation.
