Overhead perspective racing game that captures the essence of Formula 1 to the point where the petrol fumes and burning rubber seem to be emitted from the whining PC Engine. Best to check the step down in such instances too though.

A vintage vertical scroller that pulls up its bar stool and satisfactorily sups its tipple, safe in the knowledge that what it does, it does very well. Don’t expect any favours, but it does make a great adventure.

Players ride on bikes like the speeders from Return of the Jedi and try to knock opponents into the on screen traps, such as laser beams. The speeder also has a gun to shoot itself as the screen forces the battle onwards.

Contains three arcade classics on the one disk: Moon Cresta, Crazy Climber and Frisky Tom. So we have a pre-Galga shooter with the steady hand eye co-ordination required for the docking levels, a climbing game where opening windows, flying plant pots and bird droppings conspire to hinder your progress to the top of the building and finally a puzzler where the water pipe must be repaired to help the fair lady get her shower. Quite a mixed bunch then. The extra capacity of the CD is used to have alternate, updated versions of the games in SF-X, Crazy Climber 95 and Toms Strike Back.

Classic gameplay that has aged well as players must hot foot it up skyscrapers avoiding falling plant pots, helicopters, King Kong and even UFOs. A fall after so much hard work getting up fifty storeys is hard to bear making for some determined, precision gameplay.

One on One Beat Em Up
As the title would suggest, jousting between massive mechas – proving beyond doubt the Japanese gaming fraternity’s obbsession with fighting robots. The giant mechas battle it out travelling along a road, hence the ‘Run’ part of the title. Better in two player mode where power ups are keenly fought over.

Arcade mahjong game converted to the home system with mild RPG exploration elements and more bunny ears than the Playboy mansion.

The hum of engines accompanies this overhead speed freak which thankfully has helpfully cursors appearing to guide the driver round the right bend. As in the real sport, tactical pit stops are a must and the right tyres boosts chances of a podium finish rather than just watching the fun from below.
